Sami Miro might have just released the hottest sustainable swimwear this summer. The Los Angeles–based designer has a knack for creating paparazzi and double-tap-worthy looks, whether that is reworking leather jackets for the likes of Bella Hadid, creating customized mod skirt suits for Cardi B, or even being her own best advertisement and wearing her body-skimming designs on Instagram. Though Miro has mostly done ready-to-wear, including slinky tanks, miniskirts, and body-skimming dresses, she has now dipped her toe into the world of swim with her collection H20. “It is an extension of our beloved signature styles and H2O collection that can be worn as swim or as a part of a street look,” says Miro. I think that definitely for the shows I’m going all out because it is a chance to celebrate street style and be around more like-minded people than randomly walking in Soho, for example. In addition to using organic and deadstock fabrics, as well as materials and trims that are made and purchased in Los Angeles, she also works with family-operated sewing partners that pay living wages, limit all local production within a 15-mile footprint, and minimize harmful dyes and over-usage of water. The small-batch production rounds promote zero-waste and have a 100% sell-through. “The list goes on,” says Miro. “And as we scale, staying eco-conscious remains top priority.”
