One of the black security guards told Goose that telling an African American what their origins are is an insult to most African American. It’s a sure fire way of getting into a fight. Goose explained to the guy he was just trying to do small talk. The black security guard understood because he made the same mistake when he first came to the US, but told Goose that it’s just something you don’t do. The drive home was totally weird. Goose kept asking me why someone would be ashamed of their origins. It didn’t make any sense to him. He’s still confused to this day as to why African American are disconnected from their origins, and try to hide where they came from as if they’re very ashamed of it.
Then Chuck, Goose and Uche saw a news interview of a black couple on TV. The couple told the reporter how they need to make the police look like the people that they’re serving. The couple flat out told the reporter that this is the problem with the police and you can’t have white police in black neighborhoods. You need black people that look like them to police black neighborhoods. Well…between what happened to Uche and what Chuck shared on what happened to him, now they all think blacks in America are racists. Uche and Goose can’t wait to go back home to their countries, and Chuck is retiring in South Africa. I don’t want them to go, but they told me there’s too much racism here in the US.
Uche is from the Congo. He wanted to join the protests and support them, but two months ago they told him to go home. members told him it’s not his fight. He didn’t belong in the US and he needed to go home to Congo. Then he asked me he thought these protests are to fight against black abuse by police officers. I told him to go talk to Yolanda or Shayla. They’re a lot better at explaining it than me. Negussie is from Nigeria. He goes by Goose. He got into an argument at the Tysons Galleria Mall in Virginia a few years ago. I was shopping and when I came out of the store, some black people were really mad at him and yelling. Mall security guards showed up to see what was going on. What happened was Goose was just talking to a black man, and he asked the guy where he’s from. The black man said he’s from Virginia. Goose asked him where he’s originally from…like his parents. The black man said his parents are from Nigeria. Goose made a mistake of saying he’s also Nigerian. The guy flipped out and said he’s not like him at all, and that he’s not Nigerian. He’s African American because he’s born in Virginia. Goose then said but you’re parents are Nigerian, so you’re Nigerian. That’s when everything went psycho crazy. The black man’s wife shows up and their teen kids, and they’re all telling Goose they’re not like him. They’re nowhere near like him, but Goose said you’re wife is Nigerian too. The black family got pissed and started yelling like crazy, and other black people started joining in the fight. Everybody left when the security guards showed up and said they called the police.
